Hi Tim:
Sorry I was out of town and just received your note. I'd be happy to talk with you about my affilation with soccer on many levels. I have my own marketing consulting firm and have also worked other sports aswell. ( I was last year's Cheif Marketing Officer for the Boston Lobsters pro tennis team) As a member of the board of directors (Risk Management Director) of Soccer Maine, I've worked on numerous projects and help out with communication e-mail blasts, etc. I was also co-chair for the Region 1 tournament (that was held here in Portland) for the last two years. As such, I've met a few times with Craig Tournberg of the NE Revs to help ties in the pro teams with our event. We did have Abby Wambaugh speak at thsi year's opening ceremonies. Some of my innovative ideas for the tournament included having hospitality tents on site directing attendees to local tourism attractions and businesses, events (like a lobster bake attended by over 1000 players and families)and developing the first commemorative ornament. (Actually my friend, Sid Bloom, the MASS association president, helped procure the souvenirs through his personal business.) As a result of Region 1, I've connected with the represntatives from the South African embassy, to possibly gain a slot on the team working on World Cup 2010.Other things I've done on the club level are web sites, tournament and camp flyers, team brochures and electronic player profiles for high schoolers looking to attract the attention of college coaches.
On a personal level, soccer is my passion. My son played and went to college in Texas on a scolarship. I've travel through England and Scotland with his premier team, which fueled my obsession with the EPL and professional soccer.
There you have it ...I'd love to chat and see if there might be something I can do to help promote your business interests. Jason has my e-mail address and phone number. Feel free to contact him for it. I met with him, Chris, Ed and Steve in Baltimore (Coaches Convention)this past January. Great guys!
Thought you were going to bed :). Thanks for joining and please have a look around I'm sure there are ideas you'll be able to take away and suggestions you will have.
